HardHatMath calculators are reference tools built on published formulas and code tables — NEC 2023 where cited. They do not replace a licensed electrician, a professional engineer, or the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).
References, not rulings
Each calculator computes what a published formula or table says for the inputs you give it, and cites its source so you can check the math. That is all it does. It cannot inspect your installation, weigh the exceptions and conditions that surround nearly every code rule, or exercise the judgment a licensed professional brings to a real job.
Field conditions vary
A calculation assumes clean inputs; a job site never is one. Ambient temperature, conduit fill and conductor bundling, termination ratings, voltage variations, harmonics, existing loads, workmanship — any of these can change what the correct answer is in the field. A result here is a starting point for a decision, not the decision.
Your code may differ
Calculators cite the NEC 2023 where marked, but states and cities adopt code editions on their own schedules and add local amendments. Always verify against the code edition actually adopted in your jurisdiction — and remember the AHJ's interpretation is the one that counts at inspection.
Estimating tools are estimates
Business and HVAC tools (markup, estimates, sizing helpers) are rough estimators for planning. In particular, nothing here is a substitute for a proper load calculation such as ACCA Manual J — don't size equipment off a quick estimate.
